РЭЗЮМЭ
Беларусь стагоддзямі з’яўляецца скрыжаваннем шляхоў Еўропы. Нягле-
дзячы на падзелы шматлікімі акупантамі яе тэрыторыі, краіна зараз займае
207 600 км² (у 30 разоў больш за Галандыю). Але пры гэтым застаецца не
вельмі вядомай у свеце.
Гэтае выданне, прысвечанае вечнай памяці беларускі, прафесара Марыі
Паўліны Сурвілы, мае на мэце прадставіць некаторыя аспекты гісторыі
і культуры Беларусі. Кнігу склалі тэксты (большай часткай навуковыя)
трыццаці аўтараў, некалькі кароткіх мемуараў, паэзія, а таксама здымкі.
Аўтары — знакамітыя навукоўцы, палітычныя фігуры і публічныя асобы.
Зборнік можа быць цікавы студэнтам і аматарам беларускай і сусветнай
гісторыі і культуры. Спадзяемся, што гэтае выданне пашырыць веды пра
Беларусь па абодва бакі акіяну.
RESUME
Belarus is a country that has been a European crossroad for centuries. Despite
many occupations and numerous confiscations of the land, it still occupies
207 600 km² (thirty times the size of Holland) in the middle of Europe. Yet,
Belarus remains a terra incognita for many.
The current edition, dedicated to the eternal memory of Prof. P. Survilla (the
ethnic Belarusian) aims to cover some of the historical and cultural knowledge
about the country. Thirty authors present the current collection, which includes
mostly scholarly articles, a few short memoirs, Belarusian and some English
poetry, and photographs. The contributors are internationally known scholars
and political and public figures. The content shall be of interest to students
and the general public attracted by Belarusian and World culture. We expect
that the collection will positively impact Belarusian Studies on both sides of
the ocean.
