for centuries. Despite\nmany occupations and numerous confiscations of the land, it still occupies\n207 600 km\u00b2 (thirty times the size of Holland) in the middle of Europe. Yet,\nBelarus remains a terra incognita for many.\nThe current edition, dedicated to the eternal memory of Prof. P. Survilla (the\nethnic Belarusian) aims to cover some of the historical and cultural knowledge\nabout the country. Thirty authors present the current collection, which includes\nmostly scholarly articles, a few short memoirs, Belarusian and some English\npoetry, and photographs. The contributors are internationally known scholars\nand political and public figures. The content shall be of interest to students\nand the general public attracted by Belarusian and World culture.
